Members shared practical strategies for managing fibromyalgia-related memory loss, with the most common approaches being post-it notes, phone alarms for medications, writing things down immediately, and placing essential items directly in front of doors to avoid forgetting them. Several members described the profound impact of fibro fog on their lives, including forgetting familiar words, losing track of conversations mid-task, getting lost in their own neighborhoods, and some even leaving healthcare careers due to fears of medication errors. A recurring theme was the emotional weight of cognitive decline alongside reassurance that these memory challenges are a real and validated part of fibromyalgia, not imagined or a personal failing.

I have an app on my IPhone that reminds me of the time to take my meds and I email my self or put on a calendar that reminds me of special appt. it is scary this is one of the major reasons why I quick working as a nurse. One day I was passing out medication to my patients and I could not remember if I gave this heart pt. a very important medication or not. If I did ok, if I didn't and then gave it only to find out later it was given earlier . Then I overdosed him . That day I decided to quit.

Neurontin gave me some neuro issues when I took it for over a year a few years ago but the memory and cognitive issues are 100% part of fibro.

I had a neuropsychological exam that took over 2 hours and he told me that I was the first person that he had seen that he truly believed their memory problems were due completely to fibromyalgia.

I have been having really bad memory problems that are steadily getting worse. I don't sleep much so that doesn't help. I am finding it hard to recall names of items i know very well. I can see the object in my mind, know what it is used for but can't remember what it's called. I am so busy at work and have to keep asking the same questions. I"m sure my boss thinks I'm losing my mind. I am thinking of getting a digital recorder to take to meetings and then I can go back and listen and make notes in a way I will remember. Currently I'm scribbling things down because I know what I'm doing at that time but the next day I totally forget what I was supposed to do.
