Members connected over the shared and often confusing experience of losing their sense of smell with fibromyalgia, with many describing how it comes and goes unpredictably or only certain scents register. Several members shared similar struggles with taste loss, sensitivities to strong odors like perfume or cigarette smoke that trigger illness, and concerns about whether the symptom might signal something more serious like MS. A recurring theme was relief in knowing they weren't alone, with reassurance that the symptom may improve over time and encouragement to focus on staying active and finding small positives even when symptoms feel isolating or frightening.

I'm losing my sense of smell. I can't smell some things that other people can. I thought it was a side effect from my brain surgery but I guess not.

I'm just really weird when it comes to this - I have a horrible sense of smell but then have extreme sensitivity to certain odors - like cigarette smoke, strong perfumes, fumes from cars. Never could figure this one out but the odors that I have sensitivities to will really make me sick :-(

@KarolynStanley-Thank you for finding the positive. I try to do that daily. I push myself to do things just to stay active, and not let this illness get the best of me. I know there are people far worse off then I am.
