What about topamax? My body didn't respond well to lyrica (side effects made things worse) and my doctor suggested topamax. He says most of his patients tolerate it well, but that's what I heard about lyrica too. I have surgical menopause and I wonder if it messed with my hormones (tho they say there isn't a reaction between lyrica and hormone replacement).
The one side effect of topamax I do worry about is weight loss. I'm only 125 lbs and I don't want to lose weight.
It made me crazy - seriously - I could not function on it at all. I'd sit at my desk trying to work and by around 10 am I felt like someone had unplugged me and I couldn't process anything nor do my work. Didn't stay it very long at all - but then I take Lyrica which you said you couldn't tolerate. We all respond differently to medications so it is really hard to ask others what works for them as far as medications.
I took topomax for a little while to help with migraines. It was awful! Made my migraines worse. I also couldn't remember anything. I had notes everywhere .
I been on it 2 weeks. Lowest dose. Helped my mood, but not pain
When I took it I got very dizzy and ligh headed. Also made me feel like I was going to puke. I had to go off it and with in a week felt better!
I know. I thought that was strange too. But my doc has a few fibro patients who do really well with it.
