I have recently had a really bad flare up! I have never really tried medications besides muscle relaxers to sleep. But this time I'm not doing well at all! Having trouble working and just getting through the day in general! Has anyone had success with these medications if not what works for you ?

Members shared mixed experiences with Savella and Neurontin for fibromyalgia flares, with responses ranging from no benefit or negative side effects like aggression to modest pain relief, though many emphasized that medication responses vary widely from person to person. Several members found success with muscle relaxers like Zanaflex for sleep, Gabapentin for nerve pain and overall function, and combinations of pain medications to help get through daily life, while others struggled with side effects like dry mouth, bloating, or lab abnormalities that limited their options. A recurring theme was the frustration of trial and error in finding what works, the critical role of sleep in managing pain, and the importance of advocating for individualized treatment plans that may include natural or holistic approaches when conventional medications fail.

Tried both. Savella did nothing and neurontin made me aggressive.

I was on Gabapentin a few years ago, with success. I went off it 2 years ago prior to a kidney donation. I may go back on this fall.

I've been on Neurontin for several years with a little success. I was on Lyrica for about a year and it worked great, until I bloated up and all my lab values went out of whack. So the Neurontin is a fair substitute. It doesn't get rid of all my pain or neuropathy, but to me it's better than nothing. (I don't experience aggression.)

You can by a mouth moisturizer for dry mouth, it works wonders for me. I wouldn't be able to function without Gabapentin.
