I have been on Cymbalta for 7 months and Lyrica for a little over a month but not every day and Tramadol as needed. I also had my CPAP air pressure increased in December. I still gave bouts of random excessive drowsiness. I will suddenly feel like I am drugged. Doesn't seem to matter if I had 3 hours or 10 hours sleep. Anyone else have this problem? Is it related to drug reactions? Fibro? Other issues?

Members described the crushing reality of excessive daytime drowsiness that strikes suddenly and unpredictably, regardless of how much sleep they get the night before, with many sharing that it feels like being hit by a tranquilizer dart in the middle of teaching, working, or driving. Several members pointed to disrupted sleep architecture as a key culprit, explaining that fibromyalgia often prevents reaching restorative deep sleep or REM sleep, and many found relief through CPAP machines for sleep apnea, daily scheduled naps, peppermint oil for temporary mental clarity, or avoiding benzodiazepines that worsen sleep quality over time. A recurring theme was the frustration of managing an unpredictable, invisible symptom that affects work performance and safety, met with understanding from partners and the community, and a shared hope that doctors might offer better solutions for chronic fatigue beyond simply waiting it out.

I have fms and cfs and I can have a good nights sleep,(or not) get up have coffee and before I finish that cup coffee I am headed back to bed for a couple of hours sleep. It appears to be pretty much a common for me these days. My husband is such a keeper☺. Because I grew up on a farm where if you weren't up early in the morning and busy all the time you were considered lazy. He tells me "Don't worry about it. You obviously need the sleep or you wouldn't be so tired." When the cfs hits hard it's not uncommon for me to sleep until the afternoon. And it's not like I'm staying in there watching TV. I don't have a TV in my room and if I am not asleep I am out of my room completely. This disease is absolutely awful. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy but in the same token I wish everyone could experience what I go through for just 2 weeks to get an inkling of what I go through every day.

It doesn't matter how much sleep I get at night, I still sleep a few hours in the day. I can actually feel it coming. It's as if my whole body is going to collapse to the floor. A trip to the store will wear me out.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I'm interested to hear what your doc says about the severe fatigue. My doc, who I think is good, says its one of the components that medicine can't really be helped much. Just have to wait for the very severe part of it to pass. I have found that peppermint oil does energize me for just a bit, but, really only my brain. My muscles all stay so tired.
