When I Take The Lyrica, It Feels As If I Am Having Electrical Impulses Through My Entire Body. Does Anyone Else Experience Anything Similar?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I recently started taking Lyrica after being on Gabapentin for 3 years. When I take the Lyrica, it feels as if I am having electrical impulses through my entire body. It distorts my vision, motor function, ability to think. It also makes my nauseous and disoriented. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Lyrica messed with my mind. I could hardly make complete sentences. Gabapentin hasn't help with the fibro much but I think helps somewhat with restless legs. I am going to a different physician on the 9th and hopefully she will be of help. I have to use a walker now and it is very depressing.

I didn't have electrical impulses but I did have the other symptoms :( I was only on it for a short while and couldn't tolerate the side effects esp with work. Now on duloxetine, not much difference but a little better.

I was on lyrica for a short while along with my current medication (cymbalta) My rheumatoid DR did say it will send those feelings through your body and it is normal. I recommend Cymbalta over anything else I was paralyzed because of Fibromyalgia and my muscles deteriorating for about 5 months until they put me on Cymbalta and my legs started returning back to normal almost a week into the meds.

I know I'm not crazy because my family can feel the impulse if I'm hugging them or holding their hands. I just don't know how to find any relief. Has anyone found anything that helps?
