I have experienced this several times over the last 2 years. My face feels as if novacaine is wearing off after being to the dentist. I ended up in the ER in December of 2013 because I thought I may be having a stroke. Any info or similar experiences would help. Thanks.
I get that and pain in my face for trigeminal neuralgia Also known as suidcide syndrome
I get tingly lips
I experience partial numbness in only the left side of my face, and it scared me senseless the first few times it happened.
I actually started having those feelings before my pain got so severe that I sought a diagnosis. My doctor shrugged off the facial numbness when I first brought it up, and he never did reconnect it to fibro after he diagnosed me, but I notice many people have it listed as a symptom.
@A MyFibroTeam Member. I can understand worrying about a stroke! My dad had one at 58. I'm glad that wasn't the deal. Bell's Palsey isn't a walk in the park either so I'm glad they ruled that out. I hope the Rheumatologist has something planned to help you out with this. It's unlikely to be meds but I've noticed that when it comes to medications and fibromyalgia somehow we seem to get those odd side effects seldom seen by anybody else. It's bizarre. I wish we lived closer together. If it is trigger points in the head or neck my hubby could find those babies and fix it for ya!! I'm extremely lucky in that!! I hope your week is filled with low pain and high energy days!
Thanks Dawn. I had these same symptoms in December of 2013, and I went to the ER because I thought I may be having a stroke or having the start of Bell's Palsy. I was examined at the ER, and I was not exhibiting any stroke symptoms--slurring, sagging face on one side, confusion, weakness...........I also had a CT scan at the time and it was "normal". The tingling comes and goes, just like my other Fibro symptoms. I am going to see my Rheumatologist on Monday, and I will ask her about it then. I do take Plaquenil for my RA, Coversyl for my Hypertension (only 2 mgs) and Effexor. I will look into the meds. Thanks again!! :)
