Members overwhelmingly confirmed that feeling bruised all over is a common part of fibromyalgia, with many describing how even gentle pressure from sitting on hard surfaces, wearing a bra, receiving hugs, or having a grandchild lean on their leg can cause intense, lasting pain that feels disproportionate to the contact. Several members shared practical coping strategies including bringing pillows to events, removing heavy blankets from beds, avoiding hugs, and explaining to loved ones that the sensation is like having the flu constantly. A recurring theme was the profound relief of finding a community that truly understands this invisible symptom, with members expressing gratitude for cyber hugs and validation after years of feeling misunderstood or dismissed by others.

My kids try to understand how I feel, but they have a better understanding when I explain that I always feel like I have the "flu" and that I just hurt everywhere and just have a sick feeling.

Yes! Just to put any pressure on the skin can feel like I am all bruised even though there is now sign of it!

Yes, I have said for years my skin hurts, everyone looked at me as I am nuts. Also if I bang my leg or anything the pain is unbelievable, shouldn't hurt that bad.

I had to take the heavy blankets off my bed because it hurt my toes and heels to have it on them

Yes and I don't want to be touched or have anything heavy on me. Sometimes it goes away, but then it comes back especially if I've overdone it like I do on my good days.
