SEROTONIN AND NOREPINEPHRINE REUPTAKE INHIBITOR
Overview
Drizalma Sprinkle is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of fibromyalgia (FM) in adults. It may be prescribed for people diagnosed with fibromyalgia who experience widespread pain and other symptoms such as fatigue and sleep problems. Drizalma Sprinkle is also known by its drug name, duloxetine.
Duloxetine is a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). It is believed to work by increasing the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine (chemicals that help regulate mood and pain) in the brain and spinal cord, which may help reduce pain and improve function in people with fibromyalgia.
How do I take it?
Prescribing information states that Drizalma Sprinkle is taken by mouth once daily, with or without food. After the initial starting dose, the dosing size typically increases. The capsule can be swallowed whole, sprinkled over applesauce, or given through a nasogastric tube. The medication should be taken exactly as prescribed by a healthcare provider.
