For me, it’s been 5 wks since I was but I’m attributing it to both fibromyalgia & non diabetic neuropathy. Also, my hubby doesn’t understand! Either I ask for rides or do telehealth appointments, which I don’t really like. But have to do them if necessary. Hope u all are having a low pain day!
Any advice on how to talk about it with him .
God bless!

Members responded with care and creative ideas to someone struggling with driving due to fibromyalgia and neuropathy, while also feeling unsupported by their husband. Several members suggested bringing a spouse to doctor appointments to help them better understand the condition, with practical tips like scheduling early morning visits, grabbing coffee together afterward, or finding appointment times that work around a partner's work schedule. A recurring theme was the emotional exhaustion of living with invisible conditions, with many sharing that explaining pain through relatable comparisons and gentle encouragement helped loved ones begin to understand.

We went to my appointments together and a special Fibro clinic, praying he will understand soon.

Good idea to bring hubby.
Plan on a coffee an donut outing afterwards or a lunch or supper so is an outing.
Hubby can run in a store during appointment and pick you up after if that works and get coffee.

Hard to make hubby understand that you are functioning on cortisol energy which is not real energy.

You have the fibro drain plus the energy drain from neuropathy.

None of this may be visible to him but is totally exhausting.
Neuropathy may make it hard to drive and walk well and safely.

Compliment him on his driving and say that you enjoy his company too.

Somehow you have this licked.

Keep us posted.

That’s hard dealing with a spouse who doesn’t understand. I had a conversation with my 25 year old daughter recently about why I was always in a bad mood. When you’re in pain it’s hard to be cheerful. I told her imagine someone took a bat to your body and hit you all over, how would you feel? And I said I am doing my best to deal with pain and get along with everyone. Bear with me. I hope that helps.
