Her husband insisted they buy me a plane ticket to fly to South Dakota. One problem: they live on the 3rd floor of an apartment building without an elevator. 18 steps per flight. And we would be driving to see my son a few hours away. How do I turn that down?!

@A MyFibroTeam Member oh Anne I love how succinctly you said that. I thought about it and thought things through. Like getting on an airplane and sitting for hours in a cramped seat. Like walking ALOT if I have a layover and need to find another gate. Like 18 steps per flight. No, I don’t have the capacity. And then go back to work a week later? Oh Lord, no way. We will figure something else out. Thanks for listening
I agree, it's your call. Perhaps you could write down the possibilities of what might happen pros and cons and how you would deal with it if you went. Also, write down pros and cons if you don't go and the emotional effect on you.
Lore,😉this is a hard one. To go would be amazing. To go and see everyone you love and miss would be fantastic. However the down side, it's a lot of tough activity and would likely cause havoc. I think your loved one's would accommodate your needs though. Would you have any any healthier, less taxing alternatives? I'd hate for you to miss that experience but only you likely know how you'll handle it. You can try (knowing you'll most likely flare) to prepare ahead of time. I often use this method. Knowing I will flare and try to prepare for it advance so I can still do something important and being best prepared in case the consequences are tough. This is one of the hardest things about fibromyalgia so you have my heart 💜❤️ regarding your decision.
Even though it's painful and you feel sad you still know it was the right choice.
@MyFibroTeam users... Appreciate all that you said. I decided not to go. It’s weighing heavy on me but I know that if I had decided to go I would have been miserable (physically) the whole time. I know this for a fact because I flew to Texas 2 years ago to see my son graduate from basic training. It was when my back pain started. I could barely walk at the end of each day we were there. I texted my sister a few hours ago and I haven’t gotten a response so I’m coming out of my skin. I’m sure she will understand.
