It’s a stimulant and I am going to ask my PCP if I can try it.

I have ideopathic hypersomnia and take it right when I wake up. Start low dose as it may keep you up at night. I taylor it with 1mg of Melotonin( has to be prescribed) so I can still get sleep.

Great question — modafinil (Provigil) is indeed a stimulant that some doctors prescribe to help fibromyalgia patients manage fatigue and "fibro fog" (that frustrating difficulty with thinking and concentration).

Bringing it up with your PCP is a smart move! Here are a few things worth knowing before that conversation:

- It's used to help with fatigue and cognitive dysfunction specifically related to fibromyalgia
- It's a prescription medication, so your doctor will weigh whether it's appropriate for your situation
- Like all medications, it can have side effects, so discussing your full medication list with your PCP is important to avoid interactions
- Some people also try amphetamine/dextroamphetamine (Adderall) for similar reasons A MyFibroTeam member shared their experience trying different medications for fibromyalgia, noting that finding the right combination often takes time and open communication with your doctor.

Going into your appointment prepared with specific questions about modafinil's benefits and risks for your situation will really help. Good luck! 🤞

I have heard of this med but haven’t tried it. Truthfully I haven’t tried any meds that may help with fibromyalgia. I do take bupropion and it does seem to give me a little boost.
