It’s where pressure is held on muscle knots or trigger points til some release. This helps to decompress joints, reduce restrictions, lengthen and rehydrate muscle, connective tissues, and the fascia.

I find there are ways to circumvent pain, by going very slowly and building over time.
When you are on the right spot it really shouldn’t hurt, but feel more like a dull ache.

I use a yoga block for my neck, resting it at the occipital ridge. It’s heaven.
I’ll even go after knots on the side of my neck turning on my side. For my face I have this quasha tool shaped my a thumb and also one that heats. 🫠💛

I find the more area you cover, as opposed to just spot treating an area, the longer the results last. But it also needs to be paired with posture focused strength training to see forward momentum.
That being said you can find me on the floor spot treating my neck on the regular. 😉

Yes, they commonly occurring together. They share muscular and neurological pathways. 🫠

I find myofascial release to be incredibly helpful for both of these. Not sure I’d be functional without the ability to practice that daily. 💛

Myofascial release is a massage technique. I find it painful, but necessary. Our fascia gets very tight and dry, making it difficult to use our bodies like they should. There is a great book written by a doctor that has fibro, it's "Fibromyalgia & Chronic Myofascial Pain" .

I am not sure what myofacial release is either. I will have to look it up. I have never heard of it before.
