Members responded warmly to someone who was afraid to start Cymbalta, sharing their own personal experiences with the medication. Several members noted benefits like help with fibromyalgia pain and bipolar symptoms, while others mentioned side effects including dizziness, fatigue, and a significantly reduced libido after long-term use. A recurring theme was the encouragement to try it carefully, taper slowly if needed, and consult a pharmacist for personalized guidance.

Thank you Angela for the feedback. I am getting ready to start today. Let's follow up with each other on how it's going. 😃

I took Cymbalta/Duloxatine for almost 12 years. No weight gain and some pain relief. The biggest side effect I hated was it diminished my libido to 0. That is why I stopped taking it. I love my sweet husband more than I can explain and I missed the intimacy part of our marriage. I've been off it for 3 months and my libido is finally returning.

I , honestly, would ask your pharmacist! Mine are AMAZING!!! I am on a ton of Psych Meds., with some medical ones as well, so they know my history, everything I am on, all the side effects, and they have a clinical site where they are able to look up a medication like that, and see if it is legit. You can even call up to most pharmacies and leave a message and leave a message for them asking them to call you back with your question. I use CVS (from MO., so not sure if you have one, but you.can probably use Walgreens as well). My pharmacy calls me back within an hour. I nearly got scammed on this over-the-counter vitamin called Back-Biome! Luckily, my credit card company declined payment for it, because they recognized it was a scam!!! I am so very thankful because it was a special for like 3 bottles for like $100.00. I was desperate for relief, so I agreed to “The better deal!” You can also go on the Better Business Bureau ‘s website and get information on if the company is a scam.

Hi Cheryl I take it and dont find any side effects at all. You can always try it and if you find you have some side effects you can always go off of it.

Are you concerned about starting Cymbalta (duloxetine) for fibromyalgia?

Cymbalta is one of the FDA-approved medications specifically for fibromyalgia and is often used as a first-line treatment, especially for people dealing with severe fatigue or depression alongside their pain.

Common side effects to be aware of:

Like most antidepressants, Cymbalta can cause:
- Drowsiness, particularly in the first few weeks or months
- Sexual dysfunction during the initial treatment period
- Other side effects that typically improve as your body adjusts

What MyFibroTeam members have shared:

One member described their experience with Cymbalta, noting it helped with both pain relief and mood. However, when their doctor switched them to Prozac, their pain returned and they felt worse. After going back on Cymbalta at a higher dose, they found relief again.

It's completely normal to feel nervous about starting a new medication. Many people find that side effects are most noticeable at first and often lessen over time. Keep in close contact with your doctor during the first few weeks so they can monitor how you're responding and adjust your dose if needed.
