Thank you, Vikki and Sharon. This is something that is devastating for me. I kid you not, I am losing about 100 hairs in the morning and night. I had THICK hair and now thinking about cutting it off. I definitely will get in touch with my doctor. I hope you guys are doing well.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I did cut my hair off when it got so thin it looked scraggly. With the Thyroid medication and Shapiro hair care products my hair is back to being full and has some decent length down my back. Oh, almost forgot. I also take Biotin every morning. I find the combination keeps the hair on my head and not in my drain. I'll be thinking about you. V.

Hypothyroidism can cause hair loss. You may want to let your doctor know about it.

I spent years losing my hair after my diagnosis. Then I started using Shapiro hair loss shampoo and conditioner. I order it from Amazon. I also had my thyroid checked. My doctor prescribed a small dose of Levothyroxin. Now my hair loss is minimal.

Is hair loss common with fibromyalgia?

Hair loss isn't typically listed as a direct symptom of fibromyalgia itself. The search results discuss many fibromyalgia symptoms like scalp pain, itching, oral health issues, fatigue, and cognitive difficulties, but significant hair loss isn't mentioned as a common fibromyalgia symptom.

That said, some factors related to fibromyalgia could potentially contribute to hair loss:

* Stress and anxiety (common with fibromyalgia) can trigger hair shedding
* Poor sleep quality may affect hair health
* Certain medications used to treat fibromyalgia might have hair loss as a side effect
* Nutritional deficiencies from digestive issues could play a role

It's important to talk with your doctor about this symptom. Losing hair by the handful warrants medical attention to rule out other causes like thyroid problems, nutritional deficiencies, or medication side effects. Your healthcare provider can help identify what's causing your hair loss and recommend appropriate treatment.
