I slept until 4PM today, totaling around 15 hours of sleep. I had class but I couldn’t seem to wake up enough to be able to force myself to get up and go. Wondering if this is a fibro thing or something else?

Members rallied around someone experiencing hypersomnia and sleeping up to 15 hours a day, affirming that extreme fatigue is a common fibromyalgia experience while encouraging evaluation by a sleep specialist or neurologist to rule out conditions like narcolepsy or sleep apnea. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them, including maintaining a consistent bedtime (even when it feels impossible in college), doing a personal inventory to identify factors affecting sleep quality like hydration and stress, tracking symptoms to spot patterns, and understanding that sleep hygiene matters deeply because the body needs predictable rest cycles to repair itself. A recurring theme was the frustration of navigating medical systems that don't always take sleep complaints seriously, the challenge of self-managing schedules without parental structure, and the understanding that bodies with chronic conditions genuinely require more rest to function even somewhat normally.

@A MyFibroTeam Member Thanks for the advice, I’m thinking maybe visiting a sleep specialist might be a good idea. Hopefully they might have some ideas.

@A MyFibroTeam Member thank you for the detailed advice! I’m not much good at being concise either so I appreciate a longer answer haha. I have a good idea of what to do now and I will definitely be giving it a try! 🫶

@A MyFibroTeam Member It sucks that the fatigue is so bad for you 🥹 sending you lots of internet hugs! I get it, some days I get lightheaded and sweaty from brushing my teeth 😬
