Yes, some people with fibromyalgia also experience sleep apnea, which can significantly impact their fatigue levels. Sleep apnea causes breathing to stop and start throughout the night, disrupting normal sleep patterns and contributing to daytime exhaustion.
One MyFibroTeam member shared that they were only getting 20 minutes of deep sleep and waking every three hours before their sleep apnea diagnosis. After receiving treatment, they were able to achieve eight hours of sleep per night. Fatigue is one of the most discussed symptoms among people with fibromyalgia, and poor sleep can make other symptoms worse, including pain. Many members report that chronic lack of sleep intensifies their pain and fatigue, creating a challenging cycle. If you suspect you have sleep apnea (common signs include loud snoring or feeling extremely tired during the day), getting tested and treated could help improve your sleep quality while managing your fibromyalgia symptoms.

Lifelong apnea from the crib. Almost a SIDS baby. I rarely ever feel rested but you gotta get through the day anyway, just don’t push yourself too hard. You can’t sit around though, light walks around the apartment/house, just to keep the muscles and blood pumping. That’s important to keeping it from getting worse down the road.

I have sleep apnea. My doctor says it contributes to the fatigue but also the pain because my body isn't getting the rest it needs.
