Members shared widely varying sleep patterns in response to a question about sleeping 11 to 12 hours nightly, with experiences ranging from just 3 to 4 hours per night to over 12 hours, and many struggling with frequent waking, pain-related disruptions, and persistent exhaustion regardless of duration. Several members recommended trying CPAP machines for sleep apnea despite acknowledging challenges with tolerating face masks, taking magnesium supplements, using muscle relaxers or sleep medications, and reading The Fibro Manual by Dr. Liptan to better understand and communicate sleep needs with healthcare providers. A recurring theme was the frustration of never feeling truly rested even after long hours in bed, with many describing waking up with headaches, tension, and feeling as though they had barely slept at all, reinforcing how deeply fibromyalgia disrupts restorative sleep.

I get 3-5 hours sleep. Have a half hour nana nap sometimes to get me through the day.

I get between 7 to 10 hours per night, depending on what I did that day. I highly recommend the C-pap machine. From my understanding we don’t get the deep sleep because we are always on alert. There are ways you achieve it. I highly recommend the book fibro/manual.

If I get good sleep 7-9 hours is enough otherwise it could be anything and it's never enough.

I get 6-8 hrs sleep at night. If I sleep through. If not less. If I get to nap, I usually take a 1-2 hr nap. But that doesn't happen often. Rarely I get a nap in.

During the week I sleep around 6 hours a night and if I am lucky to not have something to do after work/dinner I can sometimes slip in a 1-2 hr nap. On the weekends (again depending on plans) I can sleep 12+ hours and still wake up with a headache and feeling as if I just napped for 2 hours 😞 I just started with a new ND provider and she gave me a muscle relaxer to take before bed and since I have only taken it for 4 nights so far the only benefit I have felt yet is my shoulders are not as tense during the day. But still no better sleep yet. I have to agree with the person above that mentions the Fibro Manual by Dr. Liptan. I took that to my appointment with this new doctor and it helped me explain what I need. My next visit we are planning on exploring the “fibro fog” and finding a med to help. Hope you find something to help you soon.
