Members connected over the physical activities they miss most due to chronic illness, with many sharing memories of biking, swimming, dancing, tennis, and crafting before their conditions limited their mobility and energy. Several members described finding new ways to stay active within their limitations, including using scooters, elliptical bikes, rowing machines, and aqua therapy classes, while others shifted focus to meaningful pursuits like advocacy, poetry, and spiritual growth. A recurring theme was the bittersweet nostalgia for their former athleticism balanced with determination to keep moving forward and finding purpose in their current lives.

Not very mousy! LOL Am typically perched in my 'office' at the front of our rental home, watching other Community Residents, walking, walking their dogs, riding bikes, et al... Am too exhausted to consider. Last week we ventured out, for my first time on my scooter (I keep it in my SUV's hatch for when I venture out to shop or appointments, et al.), to ride only two doors down the block to see all the building going on down there... It was way too windy to stay out - s the sand was blowing strongly - but at least I tried getting some fresh air for even a few minutes! LOL I do miss riding my bike, I used to ride up/down the Boardwalk along the sea, my then waist length hair flying like a flag in the breeze! I also miss playing top level Tennis when in College - I'd never held a racket before then, but won Sr. College's City wide doubles championship when only 17)... sigh... My athleticism is sorely missed, but I now have other evolvements I covet, like that of my soul & doing Advocacy to fulfill my life's purpose!

It's 52 years since I won a dance marathon, so I get your nostalgia for your athletic abilities.

Mostly I miss my textile skills. No gallery will want my stuff now. I've been unable to weave for several years and my spun yarn is now chunky rather than lace weight.

I live in a 55+ townhouse complex, so have many friends about my age (75) and up into their 90s. A few are younger.
