Freezing

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone get freezing cold? I always use to be a warm person but the last few months I've become very very cold to the point I'm freezing. I don't mean getting goosebumps, I feel like ice internally and it travels around my body. I've spoke to my gp and have blood test booked. Just wondered if anyone else experienced this

Members widely relate to experiencing extreme, bone-deep coldness with fibromyalgia, often in the hands, feet, and nose, with many explaining that pain causes blood vessels to constrict and reduce circulation to extremities. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them stay warm, including electric blankets, heated mattress pads, infrared heat pads, thermal clothing, hot packs for feet, electric ponchos, and keeping indoor temperatures at or above 68-70 degrees. A recurring theme was the connection between cold and increased pain levels, with many emphasizing the importance of staying consistently warm and layering up even when indoors, while awaiting medical testing to rule out conditions like thyroid issues, Raynaud's, or menopause-related changes.

I have noticed that cold doubles my pain. And cannot tolerate temperatures below 70 degrees

Yes, I get so cold I can't function - usually just have to bundle up and sleep.

The other day my feet were cold to the point that I grabbed those hot packs that heat up when exposed to air. Once my feet were warm the rest of me warmed up. I think they're called Heat Holders. My hubby keeps me supplied with these.

When your in pain, your blood vessels constrict and stop the blood from circulating. When this happens, you get cold. Especially your hands and feet where it takes circulation longest to get to.

I've been wearing thermals, tshirts, jumpers and and oversized blanket hoody in the house constantly but still freezing. Nothing seems to keep me warm at the moment, with or without the heating on. Waiting on blood test coming back but don't expect they will show anything they never do
