Members shared a wide variety of topical pain relief options in response to someone asking about Penetrex, with most agreeing it provides moderate relief similar to Bengay or Biofreeze but is somewhat expensive at $8 per ounce. Several members recommended alternatives they found more effective, including Arnicare cream for aches, Tiger Balm for stronger relief, Medistik spray, Salonpas patches, and a 1:1 CBD/THC salve called Vireo that relaxes muscles without the typical heating or cooling sensation. A recurring theme was the trial-and-error nature of finding what works best for individual pain, with members emphasizing that effectiveness can vary depending on the location and severity of discomfort.

I use Arnicare cream for achy. Shikai CBD cream for pain. Emu oil for bone pain, and arthritis in my hands and big toe. Magnesium liquid on calves.💖

I think I have tried just about every ointment, lotion and salve out there. I rate penetrex up there with bengay or biofreeze but a step below tiger balm in terms of relief. I get the most relief from the brand Vireo and I use the green. It is a 1:1 cbd/thc salve. Because it is absorbed through the skin, it does not reach your blood stream if that is a concern. THC is legal in NJ, so you may find it at a local dispensary. If you are looking for a tingling, cooling or heating effect like most of the others, this is not it. Instead, I find that it relaxes the muscles rather than distracting me particularly right before bed.

No have not. Salonpas patches are what I use.

Yes! It works! It’s a bit pricy but I can confirm it does work!
