Members shared varied experiences with pain management doctors for fibromyalgia, with many finding value in comprehensive approaches that go beyond medication, including trigger point injections, cortisone shots, lidocaine infusions, nerve ablation, and education about chronic pain science and mindfulness. Several members described practical relief from cortisone injections given monthly for trigger points, though they noted frustration with annual limits of three shots and the return of pain afterward, while others emphasized the importance of exercise, pool therapy, and cold showers as effective management tools. A recurring theme was the challenge of finding doctors who genuinely understand and believe in fibromyalgia, with some members having to fire providers who dismissed their condition, and a shared acknowledgment that managing fibromyalgia often feels like trial and error without clear answers.

I was referred to a pain clinic because I cannot tolerate pain medications long term. They have helped me understand the concept of chronic pain and ways of dealing with it through pain science, mindfulness, exercise etc. I also did a lot of my own research through u tube videos and articles, some suggested by the clinic. I also find cold showers helpful.

I don’t blame you! I wish they had a doctor that knew how to deal with this. Nobody really knows, it’s a hit and miss ‼️‼️

I have, all he did was do injections and see me again in a week or two. I got tired of that.

Unfortunately I can’t go back . In a year supposedly you are not allowed to have more than 3 shots of cortisone. I had one each month and they did help but now I have to wait and I am back to excruciating pain.

I fired my last 2 because they didn't believe that fibro is real.
