Members connected over shared struggles with esophageal issues, including difficulty swallowing food and pills, progressive voice hoarseness, and painful esophagus spasms, with many attributing their symptoms to acid reflux or GERD. Several members strongly recommended starting anti-acid medications immediately (such as Prevacid, Tums, or Gaviscon), elevating the head while sleeping, and insisting on thorough evaluations from both gastroenterologists and ENT specialists to rule out serious conditions like Barrett's esophagus or vocal cord abnormalities. A recurring theme was the anxiety and discomfort these symptoms cause, alongside fierce encouragement to advocate loudly for answers and not let doctors dismiss concerns.

I have a condition called Nutcracker esophagus. It makes me burp continuously. My new diagnosis of PLS, which affects my ability to swallow. My therapist told me to turn my head and take your pill with water so it won't get stuck.

My esophagus valve was destroyed by GERD so yes. I've lost my singing voice too and I have esophagus spasms that are quite painful.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, Interesting comment. I just learned two of my nieces cannot burb at all. I'm sure there's a name for it, but they didn't tell me. I can't imagine dealing with their problem or yours. Both sound uncomfortable!

Yes, I have been struggling with swallowing some foods. Wasn’t sure if it was fibro related or not.

Get not only your esophagus checked but your vocal chords too! I had a big cyst behind my epiglottis which was removed… acid reflux causes problems talking, swallowing
and breathing sometimes too. Start taking anti acids immediately and see if they don’t help. Put the head of your bed up or get a pillow that raises your head. Throat problems still make me anxious.. try anti acids immediately.
I also added TUMS for right after drinking orange juice or something acidic.
Any surgery scares me because they stick breathing tubes in your throat. I have gotten phobic..get some anti acids right away..also 2 dr appointments. Gastro and ent!
Insist …they find out. . πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸŒΉ Do not let anyone blow you off!!!!!!!!!
