Anti-depressants And Sleeping Medication
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

What's your experience with either anti-depressants or sleeping medication.

Most recently I had my trial in amitriptyline (anti-depressant) and it was the worst.
My fatigue was so high I barely could get out of bed for 2 weeks.
I had to beg for them to switch the medication and have been put on Prozac now.
But I'm hesitant to be hopefull.

When it comes to sleeping medication, no one willl prescribe me any
My doctor keeps saying that because of my age he doesn't want to try any medication… read more

The doc won't prescribe sleep meds. They are addictive. I have a hard time with getting comfortable enough to rest well too. You could try melatonin. Natural and over the counter. I take cybalta for my depression. It works very well. I had to try several before finding one that would work for me. Hugs to you💓

Perhaps you could talk w your doc about a muscle relaxant (I used flexerol). It was so helpful when i needed to sleep.
I take mirtazapine now. It helps me sleep (and is an anti depresant) and i cant take flexerol anymore.

i hope this helps. Gentle hugs

I have been on generic ambien for years. Of course every dr says they want me off of it but thats how i got hooked on it. Cant sleep w/o it now cuz of pain and can never relax fully. Im also on wellbutrin and effexor. Alot of other stuff i take too but those are anti depressants.

Gp reluctantly won’t prescribe sleepers as you said due to addiction. My old gp advised anti histamine now and again for catch up sleep for me the drowsy form . X

If you try any medications ask the doctor for a trial.Use 1/4 of the regular dosage to prevent side effects.
