Members shared their experiences with fibromyalgia pain in their hands, describing symptoms including cramping, weakness, tingling, swelling after strenuous activities, and difficulty gripping objects, with several noting that x-rays ruled out arthritis and confirmed the pain was fibromyalgia-related. Many community members found relief using compression gloves, heated mitts that can be microwaved, heated steering wheels for driving, gentle massage, and hand splints prescribed by their doctors. A recurring theme was that the pain typically affects the meaty parts of the hands rather than the joints themselves, often moving between different areas of the body and sometimes triggered by activities like painting, kneading, or weeding.

I have pain in the "meaty" parts of my hands too, particularly in the meat (tendons, muscles) between my thumbs and index fingers. I massage this area (gently) and do some stretching. I think your heat idea sounds great! I always wondered if the wax bath for hands would feel good....

I do. I confirmed it when my rheumatologist had my hands x-rayed for arthritis and there wasn’t even a smidge of arthritis. So I keep my compression gloves and oven mitts available when my hands are screaming. Lately it’s just been basal joint pain for both thumbs.

I have no other illness but Fibromyalgia. My first signs of pains were from my arms. Then it moves or spreads, including my hands. I don’t have arthritist, but were given splints for my hands. I think tender points for FM includes the hands.
Today was bad flare up and my arms and hands were in pain the whole day 😞
