Protein Bars
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have realised my muscles are getting weaker. I have bought a couple of protein bars. I am just wondering if this is going to help improve it. If not what else can i try. Thanks for any advice and suggestions in advance.

I walk a little bit. I’m trying to keep my protein up. You can eat almond butter or peanut butter, eggs, canned tuna and chicken etc. I’ve read that those with fibromyalgia need more protein for muscles.

Yoga has been a lifesaver for me. I was so reluctant to try it at first (terrified actually that it would make me feel worse or that I wouldn’t get the poses right), but it has done the opposite! Look for YouTube videos (you can do these alone!) designed for fibro pain. Look specifically for gentle yoga sequences for fibro or chronic pain. My chiropractor, massage therapist, physical therapist, AND cardiologist all recommended gentle yoga, and it has been a game changer! I have SLOWLY developed, and am continuing to build, more stamina, less pain, and more muscle mass. Try a couple of different instructors until you find one you are comfortable with (mine is Yoga with Adriene), and enjoy! I do either a morning, afternoon, or bedtime routine every day, and I have seen results! I hope you do, too! Namaste!

Get 1 -2 pound hand weights and do simple lifting exercises.
That will help retain muscle.

I was worried too with my muscle. I tried differen sources of protein, with no success. My Physiotherapist suggested that I need to increase my Physical activity to retain the proteins and improve my muscles. I'm still working on...

I have been taking turmeric supplements for about 3 weeks up to now and have noticed a difference in my muscle weakness ect all over my body and reduction in fatigue ect too. I take something called vein vine too which has really helped with my varicose veins excruciating pains in my legs and restless leg syndrome. It helps blood flow better around your body and all of my symptoms feel less intense along with my diet change of plant based now too which I started nearly a year ago. It's been a long extremely painful journey to where I am now but feel I've studied things over this last year especially through lockdown and have turned a corner! Not saying this will last as so many things I've tried have only worked for so long but up to now progress has been for longer and with not being able to take strong medication I was desperate to try anything! I really do believe natural remedies are far more beneficial and far less harmful in the long run than drugs anyway it's just a matter of being better educated to this fact with more help too that way! Dairy and gluten are well known inflamatory factors anyway though and eliminating those in my diet over time has helped my digestion issues irratable bowel ect stomach has never felt calmer in my 64 years lol. Think your digestive system goes a long way once it's calmed to reducing inflamation around your body but the turmeric supplement too for me has been the icing on the cake! Only one problem with the turmeric is to not take it long term so I'm going to take this course and stop then see what happens but will always continue my plant based diet and the vein vine supplement for better vein flow.😘
