Members responded to a person feeling desperate about fibromyalgia pain by sharing medications that have significantly improved their quality of life, with Lyrica emerging as the most commonly recommended option, often paired with Cymbalta, gabapentin, tramadol, or muscle relaxers. Several members offered practical insights about managing expectations, including one specialist's advice to stay physically active despite pain and another member's success with nortriptyline as a nerve blocker, while others mentioned lifestyle changes like the keto diet and meditation as helpful complements to medication. A recurring theme was honest discussion of trade-offs like weight gain with Lyrica, balanced by the consensus that being able to function and move is worth managing side effects, with the community urging the poster to keep trying options and reminding them they are not alone in their suffering.

I should add that by no means does it take all my pain away!! And like most I read on here u have good days and bad!
I wrk a very physical job I own a painting and contracting business...
I wanted to quit because I thought it made it worse? My specialist told me never to quit because the more physical the better... even though I am in pain everyday he said if I stop the pain will be mush worse...
I recently started meditation in the mornings and I find that sets me up better for my day๐Ÿ’•
Oh and I am also been on keto for 3 yrs and I personally feel my pain is a lot better with this lifestyle change xoxo

@A MyFibroTeam Member I have been on lyrica for at least 5 years and no side effects. If anything, it made my anxiety improve. I take it 3 times a day with no drowsiness.

I have been on cymbalta since before I was diagnosed with fibro. Originally it was for my depression alone. Then upped the dose to help with fibro too.
I don't know if it helps my fibro but really helps my mental state.

Hey there, I suffered uncontrollably for 15 yrs before they figured my fibro out 4 yrs ago..
My specialist wouldn't let me try any of those meds he said the side effects are worse then the fibro!
He put me on nartiptolene
It is an antidepressant but used in small doses it is used as a nerve blocker !! It works amazing!! Been on it for 4 yrs with no side effects...
Good luck and stay strong ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’“
