Members shared deeply personal experiences with Effexor after someone raised concerns about alarming side effects and potentially dangerous drug interactions their doctor dismissed. Several members described their own challenges with the medication, including dry mouth, fatigue, difficulty discontinuing it, and in one case a severe allergic reaction causing serotonin syndrome, with many emphasizing the critical importance of trusting your own body over a doctor who refuses to listen. A recurring theme was the strong encouragement to seek a second opinion, consult a pharmacist about drug interactions, and find a healthcare provider who takes concerns seriously rather than dismissing patient knowledge and lived experience.

I did want to add this, the best way I have found to solve the dry mouth from medications is from hard peppermint candy. I usually only suck on one or two a day and it does the trick. Other flavors help too but they do not last as long as the Peppermint ones.

Time to find new doctors. I hate saying that because I KNOW how Hard that can be but if neither are listening to you and both havent had any problems prescribing meds that negatively/physically harm you when combined with other medications...its time to find one who isnt just book smart but life smart as well.

You can always ask the pharmacist about drug interactions too. I would find a good Dr. that listens to you and addresses your concerns. Or switch to another Dr. in the practice. They shouldn't be taking it lightly and ignoring your side effects. Did you stop taking the new med.?
