Members connected over the mental health challenges linked to fibromyalgia, including obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and borderline personality disorder, with several sharing that these conditions often stem from low serotonin levels and brain changes rather than personal failure. Many community members described practical approaches that have helped, including cognitive behavioral therapy, medications like Lexapro, and daily self-compassion practices like reminding yourself that overthinking and people-pleasing are symptoms, not character flaws. A recurring theme was the powerful reassurance that no one is alone or going crazy, and that self-love and acceptance are essential tools for navigating both chronic illness and the mental health struggles that often accompany it.

Anxiety mostly- directly related to painful flare ups. Also depression can set in. Seratonin levels are low with depression and FM, and seratonin is a natural pain fighter. Lexapro helped me. Youre not a lone and youre not crazy!!!! We all get it! Hugs

Don't worry you are not alone! You are NOT going crazy. I have what you have and PTSD with many chronic illnesses. Yes! We over think but this is to do with the hippocampus part of the brain. Not our fault. Cognitive behaviour therapy practise and love yourself! No one in life is perfect but we are unique! Stay safe and happy! Xxx

Over thinking and worrying if you are upsetting people is part of BPD. Remember majority of the time it is the other person who has the chip on their shoulder but you blame yourself as you are aiming to please! Be yourself with warts and all. Love yourself everyday and tell yourself you are an angel in this cruel world. X
