Members explored whether fibromyalgia causes nerve issues or vice versa, with many sharing their understanding that fibro is fundamentally a central nervous system disorder that can lead to nerve sheath degradation, neuropathy-like pain, and conditions like paresthesia alongside muscle aches. Several members connected their fibromyalgia to other nerve-related complications, including shingles that intensified fibro pain during flares, peripheral neuropathy in hands and feet, blurry vision, and anxiety-triggered nervous system flares. A recurring theme was the complex, interconnected nature of fibromyalgia, with members describing it as a tangled knot of symptoms where nerve involvement explains why medications like Lyrica help some people, and many encouraged vaccination against shingles to avoid worsening pain.

Fibro causes degradation of the nerve sheathes, thus neuopathy like pain as well as muscle aches. They're two parts of the same disorder. About half of us have signs of nerve damage.

Maybe the answer is thar fibro is a nerve issue that causes a lot of other issues. It's somewhat lie a skein of yarn that has gotten tangled. You can't find either end and it's just becomes one big knot. That's what my body feels like most days.
