I have muscle spasms that are getting increasingly worse. More painful. It's not fun!! I've tried multiple things. Most don't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!

Members shared various strategies for managing muscle spasms that worsen over time alongside fibromyalgia, with many describing the painful reality of nighttime cramping in calves and feet, shoulder tension, and increasingly severe episodes. Several members recommended specific approaches that worked for them, including calcium supplementation for nighttime spasms, magnesium and salt intake during flare-ups, Flexeril or Baclofen for muscle relaxation, Tramadol for pain control, weighted blankets to calm the nervous system, and staying well-hydrated with plenty of water or tonic water. A recurring theme was the importance of finding individualized solutions through trial and error, being mindful of medication side effects and dependency risks, and recognizing the connection between chronic tension, stress, and the body's tendency to stay 'balled up in knots' that leads to spasming.

I am on daily Tramodol & other drugs. Tramodol is a super drug for me for my pain as I’m hospitalised with each flare up & last 1 nearly cost me my life. So my pain control is very important.

Heavy weighted blanket is my best friend, amazing for anxiety & settles the nervous system.

We get good results from theses xx

Calcium helps with the muscle spasms in my calf’s (Charley horse) and in my feet, it always happens at night when I’m in bed sleeping. If I miss just 2 days of my calcium, I will get muscle spasms. So I know for a fact it does help me.
