I’m interested to hear what triggered your fibro and led to your diagnosis. Also does anyone have any concurrent illnesses alongside their fibro, such as autoimmune issues?

Members shared that their fibromyalgia diagnoses often followed years of unexplained pain, fatigue, and testing negative for conditions like lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and Lyme disease, with many initially misdiagnosed or told their symptoms were all in their head before trigger point testing or specialist evaluation confirmed fibro. Several members described living with multiple concurrent conditions, including hypothyroidism, IBS, interstitial cystitis, arthritis, depression, anxiety, and chronic pain from injuries, with many finding that emotional or physical stress worsens their symptoms. A recurring theme was frustration over the difficulty of getting diagnosed, the challenge of managing overlapping conditions with limited treatment options, and learning to cope day by day while seeking support and understanding from others who truly get it.

I have depression, anxiety, BPD, possibly migraines, traits of OCD and asperger's, gender dysphoria, celiac disease and FODMAP intolerance alongside selective eating. I've struggled with getting sick and being in pain and sensitive to sensory input since I was little but it wasn't until a series of hypochondria encouraged investigations due to chest pain, stomach issues and general pain that I was diagnosed in 2017 with fibro. After the diagnosis it got worse for a little bit, probably psychological as I came to terms with the lack of treatment options, since then I've been trying my darndest to fix the bloody thing. But it isn't easy, if anything I've gotten worse in some ways since then, but in other ways I've made significant improvements so what do I know? I struggle with fibro fog, dizziness, fatigue and pain almost every day and the pills I've tried haven't helped but I'm still hopeful there's something I can do cause I'm only 24 and yet I feel old as hell and I still don't have a job or have stuck to any tertiary study and still live with my mum. Money is getting tighter and unemployment services aren't recognising fibro as a disability anymore... So, I gotta believe I can fix this cause homelessness is definitely not a solution.

I have hypothyroid, IBS, Gerd, interstitial cystitis and arthritis along with the fibromyalgia. Something always hurts. It’s my new normal. I’m new to the group, and hope I can talk with others that I understand.

I had a back injury that led to chronic pain from herniated discs and sciatica. I was having episodes of flu-like illness without any respiratory symptoms, was tested for mono and was negative. Signs of hypothroidism, but bloodwork was negative. IBS, Raynauds, chronic low iron for no known reason, undiagnosed abdominal pain, TMJ, and other issues. I was having many symptoms that accompanied fibro and could not be otherwise diagnosed. When I went on Lyrica for sciatica, it also helped with many other issues. This is what led to my specialist to diagnose fibro. She felt that the chronic pain and stress from the back injury triggered fibro and the lyrica helping my symptoms confirmed her suspicions.

I have pain all over it is hard to describe. Even my skin hurts. Pain moves around to different areas and change at any time. Have osteoarthritis, hypothyroidism, low back pain, hip pain, and many more. Have tried to just learn to deal with the pain. Gentle hugs
