Ever had feeling of sinus congestion and even use steroids, antihistamines or antibiotics to minimize it only to find that nothing works effectively? It could be due to small fiber neuropathy. A researcher correlated CFS/ME and FIBROMYALGIA with phantom nasal congestion, headaches and facial pain!

We use a 12 hour over the counter decongestant nasal spray that has Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride 0.05 percent in it, so can be used 2 times a day for 3 days. I've bought it at Kroger's and Target, but most any such store should carry it.
When I was in my 20's I went to a well known ENT only to have him tell me I did not have sinus issues. I started crying right then and there because I was so sick of the pressure in my head and the headaches. Right up to the age of 48, I would asked the doctors to check my sinuses, they would look in my nose and say there were no issues. I thought, for sure they were going to find something in the contrasted MRI I had which would show those doctors how wrong they were. Finally, when I was diagnosed with Fribo, I realized what was really going on with my sinuses.....absolutely nothing. It was all caused from the Fibro. Unfortunately along with the "non-sinus" issues, my ears feel like I have fluid swishing around in there.
I read that taking antibiotics for supposed sinus infections can then cause a fungal response. The Mayo clinic in the U.S. says that about 95% of sinus infections are fungal instead of bacterial, so antibiotics only make the sinuses worse. Years ago, I had about 4 sinus infections a year, over a period of a few years, until a wise Dr. gave me a prescription by mouth, to combat the fungus in my sinuses and body. I haven't had a sinus infection in about 15 years.
My left facial sinuses will from time to time flare up with some inflammation, possibly due to FM, and a Dr. told my adult daughter to use a nasal spray decongestant, 3 puffs in each nostril, once a day, for three days, then stop to not get a rebound effect, and it works for me also.
I have chronic sinusitus and allergies so have this alot. Interesrting article
I’ve had chronic sinusitis for years, my ENT wants me to have surgery. A few years ago the drainage down my throat was really bad and Claritin D wasn’t helping. I started researching LPR, I had a Nasal endoscopy, sure enough, I had LPR along with sinusitis 🙁 I changed my eating habits, it help a lot not eating 3 hours before I go to bed. So if you have a lot of mucus in your throat, or an unexplained sore throat, research LPR.
