Facet Injections
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question ๐Ÿ’ญ

Has anyone ever had a facet injection in their spine. I'm getting it for degenerative disc disease. It has gotten severely worse. My pain & spine doctor said that since I have fibro it cause the pain to be way worse. Once again thank you fibro, another thing to add to the list. I'm hoping it helps. Of all the pain I have this is the worst. I want to know if it worked and if so how long did it last? How sad is it that we are in so much pain that we are willing to undergo needles in our spineโ€ฆ read more

Sorry this is so long... I have had the steroid injections 3 times & the radio frequency ablation twice in my lower back (for bulging discs & osteoarthritis in the facet joints). The doctors & their staff that did these procedures were very good, caring professionals and were very concerned with my comfort. Inspite of medications & precautions taken in advance the procedures were very painful. After the procedures I was in pain until the inflamed site recovered (usually a few days to a week). The first 2 sets of injections and 1 ablation kept the pain at bay for aproximately 10 years. I completed the third set of injections and second ablation on the left side of my lower back a couple months ago. I still get some pain in my back and in spots on my left leg, my toes will also go numb. I am supposed to have the same procedures on the right side of my back but I need to discuss my remaining symptoms with my dr. I also get steroid injections in the back of my head, neck & shoulders to help relieve my migraine headaches. I get these injections every 2 months. They are painful & the medications cause a stinging pain but are not as bad as the ones in my back. Without them I would not be able to cope with the migraine pain.

I had one a few years ago and it helped a lot. Sometimes you have to get 2 or 3 in time I think. One worked for me so far. Have some back pain still but hurts much, much less. Good luck my dear ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿฆ‹

You poor thing. I had terrible migraines for so many years every week but now that Iโ€™m older I only get the occasionally and not as bad. Every once in a while I get a 3 day one that does me in. I feel so bad for migraine sufferers . I used to take Maxalt and it helped half the time. Gave myself Imitrex injections years ago but didnโ€™t like the after feeling and would feel depressed. Sure hope you can find relief.๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน
