Breast Reduction With Fibro
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

A little off topic, but not really! Let's just be blunt: I have huge boobs. lol Soooo...I have a LOT of neck and shoulder pain. My shoulders roll in, it's hard to stand up straight (I'm going to be a hunchback by age 45 lol)
Last year I requested surgery and my insurance denied me. They wouldn't tell me their reasons, but I was stumped because the plastic surgeon I saw said I had more than enough breast tissue to take out to qualify. After doing my research, I lost 30 pounds (I'll lose 50… read more

Try these 2 wall exercises to relieve your neck and shoulder tightness. Start with a tennis ball and then advance to a lacrosse ball over time. It will hurt like hell when you first start, but try to stay on the trigger point for as long as you can, then roll over it. The pain should subside the more often and frequently you do them.

Once you feel well enough, try strengthening your upper body, start with light weights or a resistance band, and advance as needed.

I wish you luck in getting the reduction surgery. I was very large, I believe I was 42J now I am a 42D. I certainly do not suggest that you go the same path I did to get the reduction surgery, I had breast cancer. I was diagnosed with DCIS in 2009. During the first consultation with the cancer surgeon she asked me if I had considered a reduction and of course my answer was yet but my insurance company would not pay for it - her response was 'they will now because of the amount of tissue that will be removed'. It has been 11 years since I underwent my lumpectomy/reduction surgery and I really do not miss my large breasts. My suggestion would be to go to a different surgeon and get their opinion. Good luck!

I will let you know I am a DD and having implants over the muscle taken out. They are 6lbs total. I will be down to an A but I can't wait. I think it will affect my shoulder/neck pain drastically. I also have have both my rotator cuffs done on my shoulders.

I also have large breasts and definitely have neck and shoulder pain after three failed shoulder surgeries!! My niece had a breast reduction and told me to have one so I mentioned it to my doctor (whom is the same doctor as hers) and he said that is not the cause of my problems! Have to agree with him I guess but 44DD I think would qualify for a reduction??

Thank you! I'll try this! Currently I'm using 5 lb hand weights for chest, back, arm strengthening. I do yoga daily as well. I'm excited to try something new. :)
