Chest Pain Related To Fibromyalgia
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I actually got diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 13 years ago and it was because of constant chest pains that had no other explanation, so I got used to them but today after all those years I’ve been feeling pretty weird am afraid that this chest pain could be something more serious but I also think is most likely fibromyalgia if any of you had chest pains with fibromyalgia before how exactly did they feel ?

@A MyFibroTeam Member apart from the 25 years bit, everything you said is me, exactly the same places. I am going to book in to speak to my GP again as I've had a fluttering in my chest this week, feels like a butterfly is stuck under the skin inbetween my breasts. I'm assuming its just more palpitations but have always been told to get new symptoms checked out. As for the pain i was told its costochdritis, but please get check out. My GP said to me its not wasting their time its what they are there for x

Chest pains and palpitations about 25 years now. Palpitation mostly being felt when resting, especially at night. Chest pain located mostly around upper left or under left breast, at time under left arm. Pain very sharp, can’t take full breath because it hurts, laying on that side can hurt. Pain last from seconds to several minutes, 3 day to six weeks to be a symptomatic. Have constant pain under right rib cage, developed slowly past 5 years. Sharp zaps, crushing pain entire rib cage at times about past 2 years.
I thought it is lung cancer the pain became so bad, ct with contrast, no findings. EKG, stress test, cardiology no findings.

I went through a simular experience this past January. Scared the crap out of me. I have a heart condition I was born with, so I went to the doctor. They did all the test. My heart was fine! Thank God!! I did find out my asthma wasn't under control and needed more meds. But that was it. The asthma wasn't causing my heart to feel restricted. It was the fibromyalgia. But go get checked. I think with my lungs working harder it triggered that pain. I didn't even think i was having any asthma problems. So it could be something else is needing attention. I hope you find your answers!

Costochondritis is an inflammation of the chest wall that many of us with fibro have on and off. i went to the er twice before being diagnosed. Definitely get checked out to rule out more serious problems but it probably is costo. I hope you feel better.

I Have been having chest pain on my left upper ribs and into my shoulder. It went from my right a few months ago to now my left. I went to the doctor several time because I also have lumps in the corner of my chest near my shoulders and come to find out after telling the doctor they have to do something that they are swollen lymph nodes. They say they are reactive lymph nodes and look normal but it still scares me. My doctor thinks they are reacting to the fibro pain. Went to the cancer dr and he said he feels I’m ok and wents to see me back in 2 months and if need be we will do a new ultrasound to see if they have grown. Now I have found a hard cyst/ lump the size of a pen tip in between my left upper rib and it hurts when I touch it. So now I have to find out what that is and like you side it even hurts to take a deep breath or move sometimes. Hope you can find answers and get some relief.
