Members responded to a question about experiencing pressure and pain after applying nail strengthening varnish, with most saying they had never experienced that reaction themselves. Several members offered practical suggestions, including trying vegan or chemical-free nail polishes, switching brands, applying the polish for short periods initially to build tolerance, or exploring dietary changes like eliminating dairy, which one member credited with improving nail health. A recurring theme was the shared struggle of managing weak, brittle nails with fibromyalgia, with members describing challenges like nails breaking easily, splitting from stress, or reacting poorly to treatments like acrylics or gels.

I sometimes get nail bed pain, but it isn't necessarily because of the type of polish/gel/etc. I have on them. It could be a strange coincidence, or even just having something irritate your cuticles because our bodies react really poorly to everything.

I don't feel any pain when I paint my nails but I can feel the nail varnish on my nails. That lasts until I take it off. My daughter says she does too!

I think it’s something toxic that our body rejects when it’s not happy.
When I use to get false nails they felt really uncomfortable I used to just pull them off and destroy my real nails. My actual nails started lifting away from my skin it was like a hump on each nail it looked very strange so I stopped getting them so a good thing is that I have no pain and saved a lot of money lol
