Members rallied around someone experiencing severe upper and mid-back muscle pain, burning sensations, and spasms related to IBS, with heat being the only relief. Many community members described similar struggles with sudden and severe neck, shoulder, and back pain, sharing practical strategies like heating pads kept handy on recliners, microwaveable rice bags, and trigger point injections (though results varied from helpful to not the dramatic cure hoped for). A recurring theme was the reassurance that these symptoms, while alarming and frustrating in their intensity and slow improvement, are shared by hundreds in the community and not necessarily signs of something more serious.

I use a rice bag and heat it in the microwave. I couldn't live without it.

I have a heating pad on my lazy boy at all times. On my tummy now. You're right, it does help.

Yes it comes on quickly and can be quite severe. It takes a long time to improve which can be very frustrating. I am glad to hear others have experienced this as well because it can make you think you have a more serious medical issue when you really don't. Thanks for the info re the trigger point injections.I plan to ask my Dr about them.
