My 5th metatarsal, the bone on the outside of my foot is fractured. I'm in a walking boot. Since wearing the boot my entire foot plus my ankle and leg up to the shin are aching, throbbing and burning. It's not skin irritation...no raw spots from the boot rubbing, but what looks like light bruising across the top of my foot. I have been back to the doctor 3 times and back to the place that provides the boot 4 times. I'm wearing an arch support and a pad over the top of my foot, but still… read more
Lisa, I'm so sorry - I know what your are going through, but it does eventually get better. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I found what relived the pain when wearing the boot was using Kotex stick on pads on the inside of the boot. I could cut them to fit the areas that rubbed or were hurting. They stayed in place and I could pick the thickness of the pad to get the right amount of padding., Hope this helps!
When I got surgery after breaking my ankle, I got out of the boot as quickly as I could. I only wore it outside the house for added protection because it hurt so bad to lug it around on my leg! I hope you feel better soon and find some relief.
There must be a shortage of neurologists. I have had a headache for weeks with visits to ER and docs...all but neurologist. My father needs a neurologist but they put the PT before the nerve testing. Odd. But we take what we can get as patients sometimes. I also need a small bundle nerve testing and of course it was scheduled while I planned to travel. And that was also before neurologist. Neurologist reads it, but...yikes! Day by day, day by day.
I told my doctor that I have fibromyalgia and neuropathy in my feet legs hands and arms. She scheduled more small bundle nerve testing, but the first appointment available is in July. I suppose I might just have to live with the extra pain until my bone heals. Pads and cloths in the boot don't help. I can't imagine how it would be to wear a plaster cast with no give in it at all!
Well walking on your own in the boot is best after what you have been through. The neuropathy puts you in a tough spot. So sorry! Hope you continue to heal. 🌼⭐️🌼⭐️🌼⭐️🌼⭐️🌼⭐️🌼⭐️🌼 Jan
