A question. Has anyone heard of the Guaifenesin Protocol for treatment of Fibromyalgia. A friend suggested I do some research re the Protocol and I certainly will. But, I wondered if anyone had heard of it? Tried it? Had some success with it?
If it helps people great but the research is pretty conclusive that it really doesn't help fibromyalgia. If fibromyalgia had a quick cure like that it would have been discovered by thousands of us by now. It gained some traction years ago when a few people in the medical community believed that histamines were the problem (!!) and then a few people with sinus and allergy issues benefited from it and were less groggy and more alert so there was the incorrect conclusion that fibromyalgia was improved.
I read the information. I'm skeptical at best. It can have as many side effects as medications we take. Can cause kidney stones. It has no other people promoting it but the Dr who wrote the book. Just my opinion. If it works for some I'm happy for them.
There seems to be some connection between sinus trouble and fibro. I have a continuous runny nose. I have to go with a tissue all day long. I even have the runny nose in the winter, so it is not just allergies.
I have heard of many in the Fibro community who have tried it with unsuccessful results.
