Barometric Pressure

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
Atlanta, GA

Every time a weather front comes in I am practically bed ridden. Atlanta is having one after another. Yet I read constantly that weather has no effect on fibromyalgia. Is it just me?

Members strongly validated the original poster's experience that barometric pressure and weather changes significantly worsen fibromyalgia symptoms, with many describing being able to predict storms days in advance based on increased pain in their joints and bodies. Several members shared practical coping strategies including heating pads, hot tea, warm baths, acupuncture, and TENS units, though some cautioned that TENS units caused increased soreness for days afterward even on low settings. A recurring theme was the frustration of suffering through constant weather fronts with no relief in sight, the challenge of balancing symptom management with mental health needs, and the community solidarity in validating an experience that medical literature often dismisses.

Yes the weather does effect me as well. I know when we are getting bad wether before the weather network knows we are getting it. My husband calls menhis own personal weather girl lol.
If it is going to rain/snow I get so much pain in my joints, if we are going to get a thunder storm I get a migraine, and if it is just going to be cold i'm achey all over. And we are talking days in advance.

The weather affects most of us. I just try to plan for it.

That’s how I felt @ErinCook so I’ve been afraid to use it again. The pain was outrageous and I definitely don’t want that again. I had it on a VERY low setting and it didn’t matter!

Everything i have read says weather can have an effect.. I think this is not a new disease .. i think back in our grandmas days they would say "I got a touch of the rheumitism",, When i was 18 (many moons ago), people were amazed (this is way before doppler or accurate weather forcasting) because i could them them with absolute certainty that it was going to rain within 3 - 5 days my legs would hurt so badly.. they were awstruck ,, now ,, its not just my legs its my whole body

I am glad to know it isn’t just me. Sad though that we have to suffer. ;(
