I've always seemed to have fast growing nails and hair compared to other people I know that I have to cut mine more often, which is annoying for me. Anyone know why this happens, my mom always wishes her hair and nails grew like mine, nice and strong.
True @A MyFibroTeam Member my nails are so brittle and they do grow as well.
My hair grows very quickly and with the heat I have it cut short now, it used to be long and at times I miss it being long.
But I wake up with wet hair at the base of my neck.
Fibromyalgia really does alot to make your life difficult including mine.

Oddly enough, people with fibromyalgia tend not to have the "half moons" at the base of their fingernails, with the exception of the thumbs. Another indicator with fingernails is if they have brittle, vertical ridges.
If you look at your finger nails, usually people have a white area at the base which looks like half a moon. With fibromites, this white area is sometimes missing.
Brittle lines means like cracks along the length of your nails, vertically, which can mean that your nails look broken. The word brittle means easily broken.
Like you I have really strong nails, as does my Mum and my hair and nails grow really fast.
Have your thyroid tested and get the actual numbers. They told me for years I was ok, but I found out I was right on the line to hyperthyroidism. My compounding pharmacist said that was why I had so much energy and couldn't gain weight. Gosh, I miss those days!!!
I did as a teen and young adult, but not anymore. Just the opposite now. However, I was hyperthyroid until 40. Now I am hypothyroid. Are you super thin? I couldn't gain weight all my life. Even eating chocolate ice cream floats before bed. My hair was super long and shiny. I even did hand modelling work since my nails were so pretty. Now I can't even file them cause they just break off. It's all about our body's chemicals!
Mine break and flake all the time. Have been better since taking calcium tablets.
