Fibro Or Heart Attack? Telling The Difference?

I have extreme fatigue, more than normal, if that's even possible. Pain that starts at my left shoulder blade and goes down my left arm. The pain is not consistent, however when the pain is not there, there is a heaviness that never leaves. It is where it is difficult to even lift that arm. I have pressure up into my jaw. And it feels like there's a pressure at the back of my neck, across my shoulders and on top of my chest (above my breasts, not in the rib cage area.)

But even with all that, I can try to sit here an try to talk myself into that this just maybe Fibro. The fatigue, could be from not sleeping well (but that could be a heart attack symptom too.) The pain and pressure is normal for fibro in general. I also have GERD, IBS and TMJ, so I could have pressure in my chest and throat from those first 2 things and the last could cause jaw pain/discomfort.

I just don't want to go running to the ER, rack up a huge bill that will take me years to pay off if there is nothing wrong. But then I don't want to, NOT go and actually have a serious issue going on.

Yep. Left arm pain (feels swollwn/lack of bloodflow)...like a blood pressure cuff is on my arm. Left ahoulder blade pain...deep and dull like there’s trapped gas behind the shoulder blade. Shooting pains in left arm/pins and needles as well. Arm feels heavy/weak at times...uncoordinated. Hate it. The squeezing sensation is the newest thing for me. 😖😖😖😖

Lots of the symptoms you describe are linked to fibro .
Best to get it checked out

Kirsten I would get checked out by your GP could all be very well caused by Fibromyalgia but no chest pain with arm and neck pain should go unchecked.

I was rushed to hospital twice, one of those times I knew I was having a heart attack. I stayed over night for observation my heart rate was fast but I was diagnosed with tachycardia years ago. FM is a strange thing at least they now know it’s inflammation in various parts of the brain.
Hugs!!!

5 years ago I had similar sensations but i put it down to fibromyalgia since it often affects my rib area. The GERD was worse. I ignored it. Went to bed even though pressure was terrible. 2 weeks later I got a stress test. It was a small heart attack minor but affects to bottom of the heart wall as weakness pumping up.
So my answer is get checked. They might have stopped the damage on me instead of the progression. Im on nitroglycerin and keep it with me always. Take a baby aspirin if u have them and go get checked out.

Don't take chances

I ended up in ER a few times because of this, but always after a day there got sent back home. They were big pain flares
Despite this
Doc said not to take a chance

Since then I’m followed by a heart specialist, run the tests every year to keep abreast of the “situation “ as there is heart disease in my family. So far so good. Keeps me out of ER .
Now with bronchiectasis as a new lung development it’s even more tricky but same applies- see the doc, do due diligence. Stay informed

Sounds like you have Costochondritis this causes pain in the rib cage and breasts as well as the chest breastbone.

Maybe you should see your Doctor to see if that is what is wrong I have always put Costochondritis, as part of Fibromyalgia.

Myself personally I have had pains across my left side, arm and shoulder, these pains are muscular from the Costochondritis.

If you get severe pains on either side of your chest and you feel they are much worse than before it is always Wise to go to the ER and have your heart checked out.

Just for Peace of Mind. Hope you feel better Soon.

Can't yo start out with your primary doctor? Then take it from there, we all seem to suffer with similar things hard to know if the fibro is causing it or not. I have a lot of things wrong with me have suffered few things you have mentioned, but some are not caused by the fibro. Good luck & keep us posted. Sending caring prayers with good vibes you feel better.
