What Do You All Do For The Severe Brain Fog?? Any Otc Meds Or Other Type Of Treatment? When Is It Fibro Or The Beginning Or Dementia??
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I am having lots of problems with severe brain fog all the time now!! I can't recall my response to a short or long conversation!! Is it Fibromyalgia brain fog or could it be dementia?? Can some kind of test be taken to determine which one it is in each of our brains if we are concerned about it?? Are there any kinds of food that helps the wretchedness or brain fog or perhaps an herb of some kind?? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Oh yes, I have CFIDS brain fog along with fibromyalgia!!

This was one of the main reasons i went to my dr and later found out i had fibro. I honestly thought i had early stage dementia, it was really scary!
Fish Oil Capsules work amazing!! πŸ˜ƒ My specialist recommended them to me... took 1000mg a day for a month then 2000mg a day for a month until reached 4000mg a day. Honestly has been incredible with my memory and fibro fog, its made such a huge difference! πŸ˜ƒ Now if i forget to take them for a day or two i notice my memory and fibro fog gets real bad. Fish Oil capsules have been a life saver for me.

I'm on topiramate, duloxetine, bupropion XL and gabapentin among others. Neuro told me these all affect memory. My short term memory is horrible. I write myself notes and also reminders in phone for many things and list is growing! I was told that if you realize you have a problem with memory, it's not Alzheimer's bc people with that don't know they have a problem. That's not helpful when I can't remember words or only the first letter. It will be on the tip of my tongue, I think, but brain won't kick in.

My experience with Lyrica, neurontin, gabapentin and other medications sometimes prescribed for fibromyalgia is a worsening of these symptoms, so I avoid them. You may not be taking any of those. I avoid dairy and gluten and find myself clearer. I also use memory tricks to focus. When anxiety runs high all of that is out the window, so tools like soothing oneself and reassuring oneself of surroundings and the situation are important. Since you have things happening on 2 fronts I imagine you will want exercises in creating focus and short memorization, Remember, you aren’t gone. You are in there. You can create access with calm and patience.

I started expecting horrible brain fog a year ago. I could finish sentences or recall information or words to speak intelligently. I found myself avoiding conversation unless necessary.
I went through a battery of written , spoken and tactile situations and an MRI and EEG and EKG.

Physical test came back showing no issues so I was sent to a neurological psychologist for the type of IQ and fine and gross motor skills.
The testing did show some problems with memory recall but overall was successful.

I take a list of vitamin due to life long dificiency and usually take potassium daily and Dr. suggested trying a pure potassium pill tested to show brain fog lessen and memory and recall improve.

So I ordered it from a specific company and I must say I have seen an improvement. This is a pure form of vitamin D in capsule form. This product is suppose to go directly to the brain instead of circulating through blood stream and the brain receiving what is left .

He also changed by Vitam D3 from 1x monthly 50,000 unit capsule to 1x daily capsule 10,000 unit.

I also take a B12 injection 1x weekly.

These seem to be showing an improvement.
