Members openly shared their experiences with bladder issues related to fibromyalgia, describing symptoms like a persistent feeling of incomplete emptying, burning sensations that mimic bladder infections without actual infection, and pain similar to menstrual cramps. Several members found relief through practical strategies including drinking more water (especially lemon water), using over-the-counter products like Uristat, medications such as tamsulosin or gabapentin, pelvic floor physical therapy, and tools like a Squatty Potty to improve bladder emptying. A recurring theme was that bladder symptoms often signal a fibromyalgia flare and can be linked to conditions like interstitial cystitis or irritable bladder, with many members emphasizing the importance of seeing a urologist for proper diagnosis and ruling out infections through ultrasounds or cystoscopies.

I have what one doctor called Spastic Bladder and the other (a urologist) said I have Irritable bladder. They both work out the same. I went through a couple months of physical therapy for it, if you've done this you know it's a little strange and thank God it was a woman that kept me distracted as she stretched the muscles in my Keugel area.

Yes. My urologist says it is another malady caused by fibromyalgia. I take tamsulosin (FlowMax); it seems to help.

I have had fibro for many years I also have had bladder problems for years but they diagnosed me probably 25 years ago with interstitial cystitis. I have also had a lot of infections I use to go into urologist every two weeks and get what they called DSMO treatments . But that urologist and I didn’t see eye to eye on certain things! I went to KU Med and saw a urologist and from interstitial cystitis it effects the lining of the bladder it loses elasticity and then gets cracks on the outside of bladder so if you have anything that has a lot of acid it can really burn! When I went to Kansas City they stretched my bladder whiched helped but that’s been years ago I can tell in the last few months it’s really causing burning and burning across the lower part of my stomach. Anyway if you continue to have a lot of bladder issues you might want to see a urologist.thanks for listening to me rattle. Lol

Try something like gabapentin, start a low dose as it could just be nerve related. Get a thorough checkup re your bladder first. Also stress can affect just about everything, we tense up, and that includes the pelvic muscles etc.
