Members shared diverse onset stories in response to questions about fibromyalgia's first symptoms, with many describing how pain initially appeared in specific areas like hips, shoulders, knees, or neck before gradually spreading throughout the body over months or years. Several members recounted additional early symptoms including crushing fatigue, severe headaches, dizziness, IBS, skin hypersensitivity, and cognitive issues, with many expressing frustration at how long it took to receive a proper diagnosis after being dismissed or misdiagnosed by doctors. A recurring theme was the validating sense of community in realizing they were not alone, as members connected over the unpredictable, ever-evolving nature of fibromyalgia and the shared experience of symptoms worsening over time despite being told the condition is not progressive.

Mine started in 1998 with neck & shoulder pain then came headaches! It's amazing now to find out that all the problems since 1995 are because of fibro!!! And it's mind-blowing to find all of us mighty warriors going thru all this together! I guess misery does love company!!!

Mine started with pain..couldn't touch me..it hurt so bad. Then came the skin pain on my face and the back of my legs..felt like a severe sunburn. That was in 1997...i still cant be touched with any kind of pressure. I still get the skin pain but not as often. My biggest problem right now is irritable bowel symptoms and memory loss. When my kids were in thier teens we had fun with my memory problems. Hope this helps you❤

Hello and welcome! It was a process of eliminating things combined with "adding". Well is there this, yes. This? Yes...and so on. Over 18 years the symptoms have shifted but some kinds have pain remain, and pain with low barometric pressure is worse. IBS and abdominal pain fluctuates and how I take care of it has improved. Gluten free is easier as more is available. Dairy free was always easy, I was lactose sensitive long before fibro. Other fibro folk?
