Costochondritis is an inflammation of the chest wall. It seems to be another symptom of fibro. I went to the er twice feeling like I was having a heart attack before they diagnosed me with it. With chest pain it is always a good idea to get checked out to be sure. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. I take ibuprofen and use ice packs to help the inflammation go down.
Yes, all the time. Very unpredictable. Sometimes it gets worse on days that I either carried things too long or that were too heavy for too long. Then sometimes it doesn’t even matter.
Oh my gosh you are telling my story. I went to the ER when I first started having this particular pain and they sent me home with no relief and I ended up having to leave in the middle of my shift to go back to the ER, sent me home with no relief once again. I was dx with asthma symptoms in my late 20's(I'm in my late 40's) so I had to do a breathing test because they thought that could be it, and it wasn't. I went on almost 2 more weeks like this and just had to tough it out and move forward. Finally, i got in to see my family doc, and I told her the symptoms I'd been feeling and what all tests I've been subjected to. She took her hand & pressed in the middle of my chest, it hurt but the point is she dx costo that same day after all the pain I'd endured. Yes I agree ice packs & ibuprofen to calm inflammation but when I have these episodes(inflammation of the cartilage connected to the breast bone in the rib cage)I take a 20mg Prednisone & it helps keep it at bay.
I will say if you have never had this before please know that if you push in the center of your chest & it hurts it's most likely costo but if you push in it & duct feel anything please make sure that you rule out any heart or lung problems that you may be suffering before you treat it for costo.
I pray that you find relief soon. 🤗(((Gentle hugs)))
Yes, for me I had first costochondritis and thought it was a heart attack, then my doctor mentioned that since it’s constant (every single day for 4 years now), it’s Tsieze Syndrome.
Fibro triggers both so people sometimes think it’s a heart attack or just anxiety.
Hugs for you!
Oh my gosh they put me on the heart monitor for that. Then said it was an anxiety attack!
