This might sound really bizarre, but I have been finding more and more that my legs just won't do what I want them to do this summer! I tend to get a lot of spasms and fidgety legs, but in the last month or so I sometimes just can't walk in the way I want to. I've had a few falls and I'm finding that it takes me a long time to get around, partly because of the pain but also because I can't get my legs to 'go' like they used to. I know this sounds really weird!
I did actually go to the doctor… read more
The fidgety legs you call is what we call Restless Leg Syndrome. I use Ropinerole to manage the problem. I can have an episode anytime of the day or night if I don't take medicine. I take it every night to at least try and get some sleep. Sometimes my legs will jump by themselves because of the restlessness. Maybe you need another Dr. who knows more about fibro. You need more meds to be able to keep going.
I am interested in trying yoga too. I've tried exercises but at the moment I've not managed to do much because I get very tired very quickly. I've heard about a London dancer who has fibro who organised a movement class for other fibro sufferers and I'd be super interested to try anything like that.
Has anyone tried gentle stretching and yoga? I am thinking about trying it. Regular yoga and exercises are too much for me
I know exactly how you feel. My legs do the same in combination with my fibro and knee arthritis. I use a case to help. The falls can be brutal. It's like my dr said, you have to reach the point of taking care of you and your needs and not worrying what others say. She also suggested that I talk with my family--the only ones I care about what they really think anyway--and let them know that I need this to move well and it was a very, very difficult decision because I thought they would think less of me. Own your feelings with them and let them know. You will be well pleased at the support you will receive. Remember, they aren't in your body, so they can't tell how you feel. Be sure to describe it. It really, really helped me.
I also get wobbly and weak legs. Most of my pain is coming from my legs. I don't have an answer for you. Just lending my support. 🤗
