Members discussed the challenges of getting low-dose naltrexone and CBD oil covered by Medicaid, with the consensus being that coverage varies widely by state and that fibromyalgia treatment is likely not covered since it's an off-label use, though members strongly encouraged calling Medicaid directly and never giving up on asking. Several members shared the financial barriers they face, including expensive CBD products after store removals, difficulty finding doctors who accept Medicaid, and the frustration of needing help for pain and depression but being unable to afford alternatives, with one member suggesting DIY herb pastes using oregano, basil, and capsaicin as a budget-friendly option. A recurring theme was the systemic injustice of a healthcare system that prioritizes pharmaceutical profits over accessible treatment for those with complex chronic illness, leaving the sickest and most vulnerable to advocate for themselves with the fewest resources.

No Medicaid an Medicare wont cover it. Sad they don't but big pharma doesn't have a hand in it so until they do, its out of pocket

Yes, some of the crime with our health care system is that doctors refuse to see Medicaid patients, that may be more true where you are. The other thing I was going to add is have your doc call it in and see if they fill it, but that is out for you. I can’t get the CBD oil easily here either and a medical maryjane card here is $100, regardless of income. There are rheumatologists that don’t take Medicare, nevermind Medicaid. Sometimes a pediatrician will help out a Mom clearly in need. Do your kids have a good pediatrician?

I am going to add that fibro treatment is an off-label use, so most likely it isn’t covered. It would be covered for addiction to opiates, but not for pain, that is a GUESS based on research. Insane, I know, and so is our health care system. Don’t get me started on how those who most need to be advocated for in legislature are those who are sickest with complex illness. Who advocates loudest? Big pharmaceutical with big money. Off soapbox. I have both Medicare and Medicaid and still have trouble getting something as simple as an inhaler that doesn’t give me a heart attack.

Do still ask your worker if you have one. Never stop asking. Never give up before the ask.
