Members strongly related to the experience of severe scalp tingling, burning, and stabbing pain, with many describing it as so intense they scratch until bleeding or cannot wash their hair. Several members shared helpful strategies including coal tar shampoo, amitriptyline for nerve pain, limiting hair washing to every few days, and Clear brand shampoo from Walmart, while one member wisely suggested getting checked for shingles if the symptoms persist in one area. A recurring theme was the frustration of fibromyalgia causing widespread skin sensitivity beyond just the scalp, including burning feet and mouth, with members expressing solidarity over yet another painful symptom to manage.

My scalp will feel like this when I have a flare or headache. I've also noticed that the longer I've had fibro, the more sensitive the skin gets generally. I use an excellent shampoo that used to be everywhere but only can be found in Wal-Mart now (in my area, NE). It's called: Clear. It works better than Head and Shoulders as far as I'm concerned. Also, don't wash hair all the time. That is asking for trouble. Every few days and you give your scalp a rest and your hair will be less likely to fall out.

if it doesn't settle down you should get checked for shingles ,especially if it's just in one area .I've had it on my head and it itched really badly

Hi Devonlady, IV suffered with my head for a good few years. Mine feels tender to the touch, some times it's that bad I can't wash it . Also I can feel pain all over my head, it hurts so much I can't focus on anything else. They said at hospital it was migraines but it was no headache. And the stabbing pain you feel is like you've been hit with an hammer and it's echoing all on top of the head. I don't really know to explain it, but it's not nice . I'm on amitriptyline, that does help. I hope IV helped you A abit Devon,xx
